BEN WEHRMAN

One of the most unfortunate realities I’ve witnessed in the last few years is that a large percentage of the population has been buried by so many body/mind/soul-suppressing lies that they now find comfort in victimhood, particularly when it comes to the state of their health.

The clearest example is when I meet people who are suffering from chronic health conditions that I know can be greatly improved, or even cured by the carnivore diet. From obesity, to diabetes, to chronic pain, to mental health problems, etc…

I will explain to them how the plant defense chemicals their carbohydrate-heavy diet is loaded with are well known to cause these symptoms, how eliminating them will fix the root problem and very likely bring them profound healing, and hand them a collection of podcast episodes explaining why eliminating carbs has such a high likelihood of quality of life, along with real-world testimonials of others it has worked for.

They are rarely interested. They will say some nice things in appreciation to make ME feel good for trying to help them, but they don’t truly take the guidance to heart. They brush it off, and the next day are back to posting pictures of salads, fruit bowls and chocolate cake.

The reaction is similar no matter which changes I recommend; to stop vaping, eating seed oils, using blue screens before bed, etc. All the usual suspects we’ve explored the detrimental effects of deeply on the podcast.

This consistent deflective response is frustrating, but not shocking. We’ve all been deeply-indoctrinated throughout our lives, to believe being sick and unhealthy is a normal state of being, and that holistic health solutions are “woo-woo quackery”. All calories are the same, eat whatever you want, life is short”, the fiat doctors always say…

But once you awaken from this Big Pharma-produced narrative (designed to normalize sickness and drug-dependence), and have seen the light of so many people completely turning their lives around by implementing the proper human diet, cutting out seed oils/toxic blue light, and these other basic routine changes…your perspective on health changes profoundly.

Just like those still glued to the shadows on the wall wall in Plato’s Allegory Of The Cave, it’s important for those of us on the “truth-spreading team” to understand the headspace these individuals are coming from.

Bringing this back to my personal experience of sharing healing guidance with people who are suffering to no avail, the majority of these folks have already made up their mind that there is no cure to their ills, and if there is, the lifestyle changes would be too difficult/disruptive to implement.

“Only meat? That’s too extreme, I COULDN’T LIVE without my french fries and chocolate!”

In addition, what’s an even more difficult roadblock to remove, is that they have built an IDENTITY around being a victim of their condition.

Their illness has become a part of them, and them a part of their illness.

It’s often become such a core component of their identity, that they implement it into their social life. They find others dealing with the same problems, bond through it, and build whole new relationships on these shared experiences of suffering.

One of the most common examples of this in action that I have seen, takes place on subreddit groups. For those who aren’t aware, subreddits are online, forum-style groups on a website called Reddit, where thousands, sometimes even millions of people conglomerate to put their heads together on a specific topic (think Facebook Groups but on a much larger, more focused scale.)

These subreddits have become a MASSIVE hub for people suffering from different health problems, as it alleviates one of the most burdensome feelings their condition places on them: feeling alone.

Here are some examples of different sickness-related subreddits, and their corresponding sizes:

r/cancer
72,000 members

r/ChronicPain
126,000 members

r/PCOS
224,000 members

r/depression
1.1 million members

r/acne
1.7 million members

These online communities can obviously have a huge benefit for those who are suffering, especially mentally. The ostracization one can feel from dealing with a debilitating health problem in their daily life, when none of their friends do, can be suffocating, and I don’t want to downplay that (I’m sure these subreddit communities have saved lives for this reason alone).

However, there is an under-discussed dark side to these online forums as well.

It’s what I’m going to call, health-victimhood mentality.

I can outline this concept using my own personal experience, from what I witnessed after publishing the following podcasts:

After hearing all of these unbelievable stories, you can imagine my excitement to spread the word far and wide to the earlier-described online communities, which are FULL of people who could potentially turn their dire situations around by following in the footsteps of those who found the carnivore cure, or if nothing else, could at least gain the mental boost of hearing THERE IS HOPE.

But sadly, as I spent hours attempting to post these conversations across all of these communities, from Reddit, to Facebook Groups, to old-school forums I hunted down that were still active…the reception I received was not what I was expecting.

banned from redditreddit moderator censorshipreddit censorshipMultiply the above by about 100 over the last year and a half…I am very persistent 😂

Over, and over, and over again.

Nothing but negative backlash, nasty private messages from people angrily exclaiming, “HOW DARE YOU claim there is a cure to this – everyone knows it’s chronic, and you can only manage symptoms. BLOCKED AND REPORTED.”

Additionally, many of these subreddits have “Moderators” who police the content of the group, and will delete + ban anyone who claims to share a cure to the group’s condition, as they’ve executively-concluded this is “dangerous spreading of false hope” or “misinformation, because The Science™ says so.”

Needless to say, this was very disheartening to see. And after talking to many others who’ve similarly tried to yell from the rooftops after finding healing to their conditions through dietary change, I’ve learned that this is sadly the norm, not the exception. I talked about it with Lash the Lion (the gentleman who reversed his psoriasis with the Lion Diet) around 14:56 in this episode 👇

So…what do we take away from this, other than laugh at how I’m now banned from every women’s menstrual pain discussion group on the internet? 😂

As with so many other things, change begins with looking inward at ourselves, taking a good hard look in the mirror, and asking:

“Am I being blinded by victimhood?”

“Am I building an identity around a condition that ails me, which may be blocking off paths to healing?”

“Am I REALLY open-minded to experimenting with potential solutions to my problems (even if they sound crazy compared to what I’m used to), or are those just empty words I keep telling myself?”

“Am I letting an unfortunate hand of cards I’ve drawn define me…or do I still carry the hope in both myself, and my fellow humans out there who care about me, that brighter days are possible?”

All of these questions, when repeated and internalized, can help us break free from the shackles of victimhood identity that we so often place upon ourselves when things don’t go the way we hope. And sometimes…may be just the key we need to unlock a new level of our health potential.

I hope you take these words to heart, and feel inspired to share them with someone you love, who you believe could benefit from hearing them.

We’ve got a world full of beautiful people to heal, friends. Keep learning, keep sharing, and keep loving ❤️
